Shortboard Project Status Update

With everything going on, including moving from one house to another, I just haven't made progress on my shortboard.  However, I did do a few other "modifications" to the design since it seems like the ribs and spars are a little weak.  I'm not sure if this thing will hold up once I get it in the water...so I've added a little more stabilization in the front of the board.   I sure hope it helps.

As MrsBlue put it...there seems to be a LOT of glue!  With Gorilla Glue, it just looks that way!!!

The next step is to get the planks for the deck and bottom.  I will be looking for some popular from HomeDepot or Lowes.  I'll probably have to get these cut down to smaller strips so that I can put them on the deck and bottom to en sure they stay with the rocker.  I'm hoping this all works out so that I can tackle the SUP next time.

However, I'm still a long way from completing the project.  In fact, the deck and bottom are only the NEXT challenge.  I still have to do the rail buildup and shaping not to mention the glassing!  Whew Hoo....this is FUN!!!

Hamburger King

Yes, we went there while on our most recent trip to Montgomery Alabama!

Since we haven't been able to find a hamburger joint locally, we made a stop at a good one in Alabama...it's amazing that we have to drive 8 hours to get a burger! What's the world coming to?

However, MrsBlue had a Deluxe (that means a Big One) with Mustard, Pickles and Onions!!! YUMMERS! Then add a bag of chips and a Diet Coke in the can! It was just what the ManInBlue needed...

Offutt...Loved being On It!!!

Well, the trip to Offutt was divine! First, I stepped off the plane and I ran into the STRATCOM Protocol who is a friend and spouse of an old CMSgt friend. It was a pleasant surprise to see someone I knew! Sandy did a great job taking care of our Keystone group.

It only got better...next I ran into Jen...a former Admin NCO from Offutt. It was good seeing her and now she works for the Command Sgt Major!!! Look at these folks moving up!

Sandy, Jen, and me, of course!

Finally, I got to see LilBlue :). This was the best treat and getting to spend just a few hours with her made my soul well! I am continually amazed at how GREAT this little lady has grown up! With very little help from me, she has turned into a wonderful young lady. Thanks MrsBlue...you did good rearing our daughter when I was the absent father serving in TheBlue! I missed so much and wish she was closer! That means TheBigO is still a player in retirement...even if it is cold (10+ inches of snow predicted for tomorrow).

We are now headed back to DC where our trip finishes out! Good thing cause I'm ready to get home.

I very much enjoyed this professional development...but it has got me to thinking. What's next??? Where am I headed? I do enjoy serving, but think getting really close to that time of moving up or moving on! I'm ready to tackle the challenges of the CSEL world...I really want a NAF, MAJCOM or other CSEL job! But who knows...not me said the ManInBlue!!!!
